Plant Manager

Reports to:   General Manager

Position Summary

The Plant  Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.  They will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.  This position is responsible for the efficient and safe manufacturing of quality products in a manner that is consistent with company procedures. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of manufacturing and production assembly;
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping;
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure the safety and efficiency of the plant;
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are always followed;
  • Monitor equipment and ensure that they are in good working order;
  • Coordinates the execution of manufacturing and assembly schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity;
  • Facilitate, coach, counsel and guide the manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure they can deliver year-over-year improvements;
  • Educate, develop, and motivate manufacturing and assembly teams to achieve required production results;
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality, efficiency, and safety;
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, freight, and repair expenses;
  • Review production costs and production quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the plant;
  • Manage and enforce the Company’s Quality Control procedures;
  • Ensure and oversee all EH&S and OSHA rules and regulations are in force;
  • Oversee facility and building maintenance;
  • Manage supply chain/suppliers to ensure continuous and timely delivery of raw material and components;
  • Prepare management reporting as required.

 

Experience, Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Management, Operations, or another related field is required;
  • 4-6 years of Plant Manager experience required;
  • Six Sigma Green belt or Black belt certification preferred;
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean manufacturing, etc.;
  • Knowledge of Good Management Practices (GMP) and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP);
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required;
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or similar software preferred;
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills;
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
