Position Summary
The Plant Manager will oversee all operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Working closely with both upper management and plant employees, they will optimize the efficient and safe manufacturing of quality products. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all manufacturing, production assembly, materials, warehousing, shipping, and quality control activities of the plant
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure the safety, efficiency, and profitability of the plant
- Participate in management discussions and planning sessions to help problem-solve, streamline production costs, and improve processes
- Build effective relationships within the business including Sales, Finance, HR, plant staff groups, and key customers and suppliers where required
- Motivate and develop manufacturing and assembly teams to achieve required production results and maintain morale
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, including adherence to EH&S and OSHA rules and regulations
- Oversee building and equipment maintenance
- Ensure the timely execution of manufacturing and assembly schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity
- Manage supply chain/suppliers to ensure continuous and timely delivery of raw material and components; control and minimize labor overtime, freight, and repair expenses
- Prepare and analyze management and financial reporting as required
- Execute other tasks as instructed by the Company Management
Experience, Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Management, Operations, or related field required
- 4+ years of Plant Manager experience required
- Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean manufacturing; Six Sigma Green belt or Black belt certification preferred
- Knowledge of Good Management Practices (GMP) and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or similar software preferred
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
