Overview:
Pressuremeter testing is widely gaining acceptance as a means of design within the geotechnical community. This 2 day’s Master Class will concentrate on the applications of the pressuremeter (PMT) regarding the design of shallow foundation systems under vertical loads and deep foundations under vertical and horizontal loads. The course will also discuss PMT application to ground anchors, ground improvement, soil/rock ‘hardness’, and compaction control. This testing method can be performed at low cost in a wide variety of soils when directly compared to conventional sampling and laboratory testing methods as well as provide value engineering information for larger projects. Lastly, the in-situ load test is flexible enough to accommodate different loading conditions, ranging from long static pressures to simulate long-term loading conditions or rapid inflation of the probe to simulate impact or cyclic loading.

Who Should Attend:
This course will be of great interest to those involved in foundation design and soil improvement, most particularly consulting engineers (geotechnical and structural), highway engineers and technicians, material testing engineers and technicians, contractors, specification writers, and geotechnical engineering students.
